Lucy Candey Counselling

If you are experiencing difficult life choices, grief and loss, relationship issues, depression, anxiety or emotional challenges then I can offer a safe and confidential space in which you may explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Lucy Candey

I work with both individuals and couples from my private practice in Wimbledon Village, SW19.

I can work with you to help you to understand and find a new perspective on whatever issue you choose to bring, which might include: bereavement and loss; life stress, challenges or difficult choices; end of life issues; relationship problems including intimacy and betrayal; self-esteem; anxiety or depression.

I have particular expertise and experience in working with those who are bereaved or who have suffered traumatic losses and who need a space in which to grieve. This includes loss during pregnancy.

I work on a short or long term basis depending on your needs. Short term therapy is usually between 6 and 12 sessions. We will work together to decide what best fits your needs. We will start with an introductory session to talk about what you might need, and to give you the chance to decide whether I am the right person to help you try to find it.

Before becoming a counsellor I worked as a commercial solicitor for more than 12 years. In that role I worked extensively with individual clients facing crisis situations. I bring a good understanding of the potential pressures of the workplace and also the difficulties in trying to achieve a healthy work/life balance.

My Approach

Person Centred

Person-centred therapy focuses on individuals' own self-worth, values and beliefs. We will look at how you feel in the "here and now", without seeking to analyse or interpret the past. Through providing a space that is non-judgmental, honest and empathetic, I can help you to explore your feelings, thoughts and emotions and support you to achieve positive change.

"...significant positive personality change does not occur except in a relationship"

Carl Rogers

Existential

Existential therapy can help you to explore your beliefs and assumptions from a different perspective. We can work together to help you to accept the anxieties that everyday life can bring, and find the right balance in all aspects of your life (spiritual, psychological, social and physical).

"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

Viktor Frankl
